About the Presenter

A native St. Louisan, Ravi Rao, JD, developed a passion for social justice during his college years at Washington University. A lifelong debater and coach, Ravi went from captaining the high school team at a well-resourced public school in the county to coaching debate in some of the city’s most under-resourced schools. That profound firsthand exposure to resource disparity remained with Ravi upon his return to St. Louis after completing his legal studies at Chicago-Kent College of Law.

Ravi co-founded and directed the St. Louis Urban Debate League, a non-profit organization that supported the establishment and growth of after-school debate teams in St. Louis’s urban schools. That experience convinced Ravi to pursue a career in nonprofit fundraising, where he combines his advocacy background with his passion for connecting prospective donors with the projects and causes that matter to them.

As a consultant to non-profits, Ravi combines his strengths as a researcher, communicator, and educator, locating the organizational stories that best convey impact to prospective donors while coaching staff and boards to maximize their resource development efforts.

A resident of St. Louis City, Ravi lives with his beautiful wife, Kelli, son Arjuna, and beagle Hype. He can often be found chasing after the latter two in the evenings at Lafayette Square Park, coaching at a local debate tournament, or cheering on his beloved Stanley Cup Champion St. Louis Blues from the nosebleeds. In his spare time, he enjoys all things Star Wars.

FORWARD on Attainable Housing: From Ideas to Delivery

FORWARD on Attainable Housing: From Ideas to Delivery

Attainable housing doesn’t move forward by talking — it moves forward when people build.

On Wednesday, March 25 (7:30–9:30 AM), Construction Forum convenes a working conversation about what it actually takes to deliver attainable housing today — financially, technologically, and at the neighborhood level

This isn’t theory. It’s practice.

We will gather at First Unitarian Church of St. Louis (5007 Waterman Blvd.) — a historic institution rooted in social justice and located directly in the tornado’s path. The setting underscores the point: attainable housing is not abstract policy. It is a current, local construction challenge tied to recovery, resilience, and long-term neighborhood stability.

DATE/TIME

Wednesday, March 25, 2026

7:30AM - 9:30AM

LOCATION

First Unitarian Church of St. Louis

(at the corner of Waterman & Kingshighway)

5007 Waterman Blvd., St. Louis, MO 63108

The program is free. Registration is required.

If you care about the future of the built environment — and your role in shaping it — I hope you’ll join us.

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐏𝐏𝐀) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 Community Meeting & Resource Fair
Feb

𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐏𝐏𝐀) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 Community Meeting & Resource Fair

The 𝐏𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐩𝐞𝐫𝐭𝐲 𝐀𝐬𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐜𝐞 (𝐏𝐏𝐀) 𝐏𝐫𝐨𝐠𝐫𝐚𝐦 is asking for your continued help getting the word out to residents who may still need support. The application deadline has been extended to 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟐𝟖, giving residents additional time to complete applications and fix missing or incorrect information.

This matters because these FEMA recovery dollars are meant to help residents:

  • Repair and restore their homes

  • Clear remaining debris

  • Address properties that are unsafe or beyond repair

Making sure eligible residents know about the program and have help applying is critical to ensuring recovery funds reach the community.

𝐔𝐩𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐈𝐧-𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐨𝐧 𝐒𝐮𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬

𝐂𝐨𝐦𝐦𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 & 𝐑𝐞𝐬𝐨𝐮𝐫𝐜𝐞 𝐅𝐚𝐢𝐫 - 𝐅𝐞𝐛𝐫𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 𝟏𝟕𝐭𝐡, O’Fallon Park Rec Complex

Residents can get help with applications and connect to housing, shelter, legal aid, food, utilities, repairs, and mental health resources.

𝐍𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐛𝐨𝐫𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐝 𝐎𝐮𝐭𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡 & 𝐏𝐨𝐩-𝐔𝐩𝐬

Action St. Louis has announced a community canvassing effort this weekend and is seeking volunteers. Additional pop-up events are being scheduled with community-based organizations to support residents with applications. More details coming soon!

𝐂𝐁𝐍 𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐬:

If you have upcoming events in tornado-impacted areas where outreach support, flyers, or application assistance could be helpful, please reach out to Jessica Wernli and share this post to help ensure residents don’t miss this extended opportunity for assistance.

Giving Tuesday 2025

#Giving Tuesday 2025

December 2nd, 2025

#GivingTuesday has become a powerful moment in the year-end season of generosity for communities across the globe. What began in 2012, when the 92nd Street YMCA in New York and the United Nations Foundation set aside one day to celebrate giving, has grown into an international movement that raised more than $3 billion in the U.S. alone last year.

Here in St. Louis, CBN is proud to join this global day of generosity. Across our region, our nonprofits are working harder than ever to meet rising needs in disaster recovery, education, food access, healthcare, housing stability, and community well-being.

#GivingTuesday 2025, happening on December 2, is an opportunity for all of us to uplift that work and invest in a stronger, more equitable St. Louis.

How You Can Support St. Louis Nonprofits on #GivingTuesday

Whether you have time, resources, skills, or simply a commitment to spreading kindness, every act of generosity makes a difference. Here are some meaningful ways to participate (adapted from GivingTuesday.org):

  • Give time by volunteering with a local nonprofit.

  • Give voice by advocating for causes that strengthen St. Louis neighborhoods.

  • Give dollars by donating to a nonprofit in honor of #GivingTuesday.

  • Give goods by organizing a donation drive for essential items.

  • Give kindness through small acts that brighten someone’s day.

  • Give talent by lending your expertise—marketing, HR, design, technology—to a community organization.

  • Share why you give by posting on social media and encouraging others to join in.

There are countless ways to inspire generosity across our region. #GivingTuesday is your day to uplift the organizations and neighbors who help St. Louis thrive. Please consider donating directly to Community Builders Network or one of our hard-working, reliable Member Organizations.
