Summer Youth Career Development Program Connects Students With Skilled Trades
Five University City High School students gained paid, hands-on construction training working alongside program coordinator Stephen Wurst and volunteers from Habitat for Humanity Saint Louis on cabinet deconstruction, cabinet building, and residential demolition. Building on last year's successful project when students helped construct the deck for SHED's first new home build on Crest Avenue, the program continues to introduce youth to rewarding careers while making a lasting impact in the community.
Spring Work Days Make a Difference
This spring, SHED hosted two volunteer work weekends to help local homeowners with much-needed exterior maintenance. Together, more than 50 volunteers served eight homes over the course of three days, tackling projects that included yard cleanup, brush removal, gutter cleaning, mulch installation, and painting.
SHED Hosts Successful 2026 Housing Fair
The annual Housing Fair brought together banks, lenders, and community organizations to connect residents with the resources they need to achieve and maintain homeownership. Attendees had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with trusted partners and walk away with practical tools to move forward with confidence. Working in partnership with affordable housing and workforce opportunities, SHED is helping more families build a stronger future through education, resources, and access to homeownership.
