Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) is sharing new resources and initiatives focused on helping residents build financial stability and creating more supportive housing communities. Its new POWER Playbook highlights lessons from a resident financial well-being initiative that has reached more than 14,000 residents, helped families build over $4.5 million in savings, establish more than 1,600 new credit scores, and reduce hundreds of thousands of dollars in debt.
POAH has also launched Build Your Nest, a pilot program serving 150 families in two Chicago communities. The initiative combines savings incentives, financial coaching, and housing stability rewards to help families build assets, including those not receiving rental assistance.
Looking ahead, POAH is partnering with Housing Partnership Network and Affordable Homes and Communities to launch a new online trauma-informed housing training series in early 2027. The courses will offer practical tools for creating more supportive environments for residents and staff.
