What is Funder First Friday?
On the first Friday morning of select months, PhilMO brings together St. Louis-area funders to offer free, confidential technical assistance to nonprofits and other community partners.
Bring a question, idea, challenge, or area where you’d value a funder’s perspective. You don’t need to have a current grant or be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit to participate.
What to Expect
Registration is required. We cannot accommodate walk-ins.
Sign up as an organization. You may absolutely bring multiple staff, but only take one session per organization.
Choose a 35-minute session from the available times and briefly tell us what you’d like to discuss (review a sample list of topics here).
Meet with a pair of funder advisors for a friendly, informal, and confidential conversation. We encourage meeting in person and may have limited virtual sessions for special circumstances.
Talk through your question or challenge — asking for a funder perspective but not about any one funder’s grant opportunity. (Please follow the funder’s guidelines on their website for those questions.)
Leave with ideas, perspective, or questions to consider.
Coffee and snacks will be available, and you’re welcome to stay for a bit for informal networking. Attire is flexible (where whatever makes sense for the rest of your day).
Please note these conversations aren’t an on-ramp for funding or an opportunity to ask about a specific grant program (contact that funder directly as described in their application materials). This is not free ongoing consulting but rather is a one-time, friendly, and informal space to talk through an idea or problem.
Eligibility & Registration
Any community-based organization staff member with a question or desired area of learning is welcome. You do not need to be a PhilMO Member, have a current grant, or be a 501(c)(3) organization. Grantmakers primarily have expertise in Metro St. Louis (we look forward to holding this program in the future!).
