The Tower Grove Neighborhoods Community Development Corporation (TGNCDC) is a non-profit, non-denominational organization that works to improve the quality of life in the Shaw neighborhood, Southwest Garden neighborhood, and Tower Grove South neighborhoods by addressing community development related issues. It is involved in numerous activities designed to promote the neighborhoods and encourage both private and public investment.

TGNCDC is a consolidation of Grand Oak Hill Community Corporation, Southwest Garden Housing Corporation, and Shaw Neighborhood Housing Corporation. The three organizations have served the community for over 30 years. Now, as a combined entity, TGNCDC continues that tradition and supports the area’s growth by promoting responsible development, affordable housing, and diverse character and vibrancy in the neighborhoods surrounding Tower Grove Park. Through local development and community progress expertise, TGNCDC serves as a resource to neighborhood residents, buyers and renters, developers, real estate agents, and business owners.

TGNCDC offers free landlord training workshops throughout the year on a variety of topics. The organization also manages Screen Door, a completely non-discriminatory, Fair Housing compliant tenant screening and verification service, offered free of charge for any landlord looking to find and maintain good tenants. The service started over 15 years ago in the Tower Grove Neighborhoods but has grown to meet the needs of surrounding communities in the City of Saint Louis, St. Louis County, Illinois, and beyond. In 2015, Screen Door helped 677 different property owners and managers screen potential tenants for over 4,500 rental units in over 10 different counties across three states.

TGNCDC works closely with Southwest Garden Neighborhood Association, Shaw Neighborhood Improvement Association, other community organizations, and elected Alderpersons in the organization’s service area.
