Join the Southside Youth Council for a Fun Day and Car Wash on July 29, 2017!

As a part of their work in the Gravois Jefferson Historic Neighborhood Planning Area, Rise Community Development (Rise) has supported the efforts of the new Southside Youth Council, a group of young residents crystallized by the Community Leadership Camp organized by Jessica Maginity, Youth Development Coordinator at Thomas Dunn Learning Center. In the past few weeks, Rise has worked with the youth to help them understand neighborhood assets, safe zones, mapping, planning, and community development. Thanks to support from the Incarnate Word Foundation, Rise hopes to continue supporting these young residents as part of their plan implementation that focuses on youth and education.

On July 29, the Council is organizing a community car wash from 1:00-4:00 pm and a festival from 3:00-7:00 pm at Thomas Dunn Learning Center! The event will include snacks, games, prizes, sack racing, and fun. Car washes are $10 and tickets are $5. All proceeds will benefit Our Lady’s Inn, a local shelter for pregnant women. See flyer below for more information:
