Habitat for Humanity St. Louis (HFHSL) envisions a world where everyone has a decent place to live. HFHSL builds simple, decent, and affordable housing in partnership with families of modest means and concerned community partners. These homes provide a safe haven, peace, and stability to the families that purchase them.

HFHSL was founded in 1986 by citizens who envisioned a long-term solution for substandard housing in the St. Louis community. By 1988, HFHSL completed two homes through the hard work of volunteers, businesses, and churches. Now, almost 30 years later, HFHSL has built and rehabbed almost 400 houses throughout St. Louis City and County. Each year, more than 3,500 volunteers give their time at HFHSL’s build sites or its two ReStore retail outlets, filling more than 11,000 volunteer opportunities—not including the priceless work that is done by HFHSL’s many volunteer committees.
